Reunion Island

Reunion Island

Plateau technique Description

Horse riding on Reunion Island is an activity that combines sport, leisure and exploration of volcanic landscapes. Thanks to the varied terrain and spectacular panoramas, horse riding is particularly popular, especially in the cirques of Cilaos and Mafate and on the slopes of Piton de la Fournaise. There are numerous equestrian centres on the island, offering lessons, courses and rides for all levels. They welcome our students practising Etiopathy, who can discover different breeds of horses suited to the various equestrian activities offered by these centres.

The Réunion Equestrian Federation oversees the sport and organises local competitions, particularly in show jumping and endurance riding. The horse breeds are suited to the tropical climate, and there are also ponies for younger riders. Horse riding is also a vehicle for social inclusion, with activities offered in equine mediation. Equestrian tourism is growing, driven by the island’s natural beauty. Between the sea, mountains and forests, Réunion offers a unique and exotic equestrian experience for our students, who have made it a favourite destination for the institute.
