Etiopathy is a manual therapy based on a holistic approach to the body, considering it as a whole rather than focusing solely on a specific element. Derived from the Greek roots “aïtia” (cause) and “pathos” (suffering), it aims to identify and treat the root cause of mechanical disorders in the animal’s body, beyond mere symptoms.
Based on a causal analysis, rigorous, analytical and scientific, etiopathy is based on in-depth knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, physiology and of biomechanics,of physiology, of neurology and of pathology. It applies a causal reasoning method derived from her analysis, based on a classification of pathological phenomena in relation to time, systems theory and cybernetics, using a clear logic of cause and effect between systems. This results in a functional deductive approach based on biomechanical lesion chains.
In practice, etiopathy consists of precise manual techniques based on mobilisations, performed in a methodical setting. In animals, just as in humans, these movements mainly target the musculoskeletal system, with the aim of restoring biomechanical and neuromuscular balance. They enable in particular to regulate the hyperactivity of the gamma loop and, thereby, indirectly influence the orthosympathetic, parasympathetic, visceral and medullary systems, without however claiming to have a direct effect on these structures.
In short, etiopathy acts where its effectiveness can be objectively measured, within a demanding scientific framework, with both an analytical and systemic view of the living body. Based on a scientific foundation, animal etiopathy intervenes where its effectiveness is real, observable and well-founded.
